I went there once in the days of the Maidstone River Festival and vaguely remember seeing some unknown band but I wasn't really paying attention to my surroundings because the place was packed and crowds are generally not my thing.
After realising how awesome it was the other day, I couldn't wait for the weekend to arrive so that we could explore it properly!
Beautiful views of the River Medway
A huge patch of flowers - are they for bees, I wonder?
The underside of the blue bridge to the other side of the river where I usually run.
There are two walking trails in the park. One is the Treetop Walk and the other is the Woodland Walk. we opted for the Treetop Walk and took in some pretty cool views.
Which way to go? Arrghh!
View from the top. It's not as impressive as the
Burj Khalifa, but it's not bad for a Sunday walk. :P
Some people are so childish!
This is sort of cool and creepy at the same time.
Commemorative stones - only I couldn't quite figure out what they were on about.
The amphitheatre
A very flat skate park - maybe it's for less adventurous skaters?
Not quite ... but still cute.
A skanky little pond.
This is next to the skanky little pond. We couldn't find any creatures in it. Simon looked really hard. Me. Not so much. I hate bugs and all manner of crawly stuff.
More views from the Treetop Walk
After we'd done the little Treetop Walk, we decided that we needed to do the Woodland Walk too. It was very woodlandy.
Then we found a cool park with no kids in it.
Look how high this slide is! We just had to try them!
And then we found the zipline ... we *may* have gotten stuck here for a long, long time.
Bring the welly-boots for the kiddies if it's been raining so they can go puddle jumping. Note: I don't have welly-boots and so could not do this. *sulks*
A map of the park in case you needed one. :P
The silver bridge that goes to the other side of the river.
View from both sides of the bridge when we were halfway across.
We also discovered that if you jump around the bridge a lot you can feel the vibrations echoing back along the bridge. It's kinda scary but also fun.
The river walk on the way home over the other side of the bridge aka my personal gym. :P
